Car Stereos: power but no sound!, auto repair technicians, light fuse

Question
I have a 2000 tahoe i installed a dual xdvd8183 and it worked great. i installed a neon light under my dash off of my glove box light and it worked for about 30 seconds then blew my interior light fuse. when i turned the truck on the radio came on but i have no sound. i called dual and they mailed me a new radio because they thought the old one was burned up. now my new radio turns on but i have no sound.

Answer
Daniel,

Apparently your neon experiment burned up more wires than just the fuse.  Double check all fuses, and be sure they are all good.  If the glovebox wire and stereo harness share the same ground, perhaps the ground wire has been dislodged.  Make sure the radio has a good wire all the way to ground.  If that doesn't work, then I would say there is another wire somewhere that has become shorted from the over load.  The wire will need to be tracked down and repaired.  Auto repair technicians have special tools to find shorts, and I would suggest taking it in to one of them.  The cost to locate and fix the problem will probably be $100 - $150.  Hope this helps, Scott
