Car Stereos: chevy tahoe speakers, chevy tahoe, loose wire

Question
I am replacing a blow speaker in 2001 chevy tahoe.
The speaker is located in the drivers side door.
Replaced with new speaker and there is no sound from new speaker, sound works on left side and back speakers.
Not sure where to go from here?

Answer
The first plan of attack is to determine where the problem is.  Was the old Blown speaker making noise, before it was removed?  Or was it silent as well?  If it was silent, then the problem is probably in the wiring from the radio or the radio itself.  If it was making noise before, then I would remove the new speaker, and reinstall the old speaker.  Does the old speaker make noise still, or is it quiet now?  If it is now quiet, then the problem is the wiring to the radio or the radio itself.  If the old speaker is still making noise, then unhook it, and reinstall the new speaker.  Be sure the connections are tight and correct.  Now, if the old speaker was making noise, and the new speaker is not, the new speaker may have a loose wire or connector.  Nevertheless, if this is the case, the new speaker should be exchanged for another one.  Hope this helps, Scott
