Car Stereos: 04 Durango cd player not working, memory issues, mode button

Question
My battery died in my 04 Durango so I had the dealer install a new one. I got my Durango back and the CD player does not work. I push the mode button and it doesn't switch over to CD. I can hear the CDs switching around in the changer (6 disc) when the vehicle is off. I took it back to the dealer 2 times and they told me they can't fix it and replacing the battery had nothing to do with it not working any more (it clearly worked before I took it to them for a new battery). I saw other users ask the same question but I haven't seen a resolution posted. If anyone has experienced this issue and has a resolution, I'd love to hear it!!

Answer
Hi John,

Unfortunately, these issues are all too common.  And while if you hadn't had the battery replaced, it's still not technically the dealership's fault in that the issue is likely a low voltage situation having toasted the changer and/or deck.  You can try disconnecting the power to the changer again for 20 minutes or so (let any memory issues clear), and then reconnect it.  If that doesn't work, you're probably looking at replacement.  They just don't build things like they used to, as they say.
