Auto Racing: Racing Career, perfect answer, minimum wage

Question
I have a question and I'm sure you do get these questions allot but I'm 17 and really interested in auto racing but i would like to go to a school but i checked prices and it is extremely high to a point where i cant afford it. well my parents can afford it but its at a price where they don't want to bother. i cant afford it making minimum wage working in high school. plus i live in Rochester, NY and usually stuff like this is in Europe. I'm Pretty much screwed huh? i mean i do have a car and a license. does that count for anything. i feel so trapped in this small city like there is no opportunity. i know i am talent in a small city.

Answer
well... it is pretty difficult situation

as long as you can't afford a racing school then maybe you should try to learn "on the fly" as i like to call it.

try to locate a racing track near you were they have an opening for the general public to participate with their own cars... kinda like "track day event" as they call it in Europ or so

you can meet some experianced guys to give you tips, watch how the other drivers handle the course and things like that while you are driving

try to follow one fast guy and keep on his lines and study his braking patterns and time... i recon this will be more like "live trainer" if i may

i know this might sound stupid but i used to do that when i spot a better driver than me... i follow him and learn his driving tech. and when i am fully confident i try to improve a bit on some corner by braking a bit later, apply the power a bit earlier and then last try a bit more aggressive lines and all.

i know this is not the perfect answer to your question but it is the closest i could think of given your constraints
