BMW Repair: 84 528e Low beams not working..., low beams, high beams

Question
QUESTION: Hi I own a 1984 BMW 528e and recently my headlights have been
acting weird. I flip the switch and the low beams font come on
, but when I turn on the high beams all four work so I really
dont know what to check, change, or fix????

ANSWER: The question is not very clear to me.What I am gathering is that you have no low beam but you do have high beams. The indicator is for high beam(I believe it is blue) low beam there is none unless you have driving(fog)lamps in which case it would come on only with low beam.Where the beams all work on high and not on low I would say to check the fuses for low beam.If they are fine then you need to replace the low beam bulbs(outer).

QUESTION: Hello let me try and explain... when I turn on my headlights
the idiot light for the low beams come on because the low
beams do not turn on... but when I click to high beams all
the lights come on low and high, so my question is why do my
low beams not work on their own? the fuses are all good and
they work with the high beams... is there a reason they wont
work alone?

Answer
It may sound strange but the seal beams for low beam maybe burnt or the filaments broken.Check power going to the bulbs when they are on low beam. The low beam bulbs are the outside bulbs. This is why the indicator comes on,it senses the bulbs not working.A test light will help diagnose this problem quickly.
