BMW Repair: 1994 BMW 530i, shocks and struts, aluminium alloy

Question
QUESTION: I have 2 issues with this vehicle. 1st, with the AC on the car shakes at slow speeds, but is fine at highway speeds. Also, the brakes were recently redone, but the car shakes when braking. Is that the shocks or something else? Please help!

ANSWER: Does it shake with the A/C off at the same engine speeds?  If not, it may just be loading down the engine with the A/C.

If it does, it might be the famed '94/'95 engine problem.  Check roadfly.com for more info on it.

Brakes redone.....including new rotors?  If not, it's likely the rotors.  if were done, likely the suspension.... ball joints, etc.

QUESTION: The car does not shake with the AC off and the rotors were replaced. What do you mean by "loading down the engine" and what needs to be done to fix it? As far as the suspension, I am having the shocks and struts replaced next week. Do you believe that could be the main culpret?

Answer
A/C is a heavy load on an engine.  The load may be causing it to stumble.  I would also advise looking into the engine issue.  BMW used an aluminium alloy in '94/'95 that caused a problem.

Struts and shocks would remove braking shutter.  ball joints, etc.
