Question
The active steering defective warning symbol has been coming on periodically. My spouse drives this car full time and she says when the symbol comes on it won't start without "jiggling" the steering wheel. Do you have any insight? We just had oil service about 2 wks ago. Would a  problem such as this show up on a computer scan etc. Another trip to the dealer ASAP? Thanks for your time.  Kevin.

Kevin, when this warning comes on is it red or yellow? Tell you lady to use the turn signal stalk and BC button on the end to see what CC-ID code # you get. If it is code 187 or 186 then you have a faulty ELV (electric steering lock) of the steering column. The steering column will need to be replaced. Not an uncommon situation. Your dealer should be well versed in this repair. Yes this issue will show up in the fault memory interrogation performed by the Technician. This is an issue that I would have taken care of as soon as possible.
