BMW Repair: convertible top problem, gas gauge, fuel gauge

Question
Hi,
I just bought a 1997 328I convertible, yesterday my top got stuck half way. I went under the back seat and pull the emergency handle and got it close manually. I push back the motor in. the light switch still blanks but when I push it on or off, nothing happen. I check fuses in the box, they all good. There should be another one (#49) in the trunk but i just can't find it. Can you help me please.
Also the speedometer and the Gas gauge(it shows empty when its full) does not work. Any Idea????
Thanks
Clerge

Answer
Clerge, Convertible top issues and possibilities of failure are too numberous to explain. I suggest taking the car to the dealer or an expert on these convertible tops. Speedo and gas gauge are seperate issues. I would have the other issues diagnosed while at the dealer. Fuel gauge is most likely a fuel sender issue as where the speedo problem could be a faulty cluster, ASC unit, or a wheel speed sensor.
