BMW Repair: remove gas pedal from floor, wing nuts, shift boot

Question
i am removing the carpet on a 1990 m3, the gas pedal needs to be removed, i have taken the c clip off, also how to remove center trims, parking break, etc.

Answer
Don,
The center console is VERY easy to remove.  In the rear of the console there is an ashtray, pull the ashtray out and you will see a nut below it.  Remove this nut and it will loosen the center console.  Remove the handle on the parking brake (slide off), then pull the boot off the parking brake (just popps off).  Now you should be ble to remove the entire rear console.  The one around the shifter is just as easy.  If you pull up the shift boot, you will notice a nut holding the shift console down (right behind where 4th gear would be).  If you follow the "wings" of the shift console up under the dash you will find some wing nuts that hold it on.  In the tray just behind the front ashtray, there are a couple bolts holding the console underneath the radio (bolts going in from the bottom).  Once you have all the fasteners out of the way, all you have to do is disconnect the wires running to the cigarette lighter.

 Good luck,
 Josh
