BMW Repair: bmw 520i 91 idle problems, bmw 520i, vacuum hoses

hi can u help got a bmw 520i 91 soon as the car is warm the idle keeps going up and down then wil cut out starts up again and only does it when u stop in drive its fine can u help thanks shaun

Shaun, older cars are not my specialty. What motor do you have? M20? Check and make sure all your tune up components are new or like new in condition (plugs, wires, Dist. cap, rotor, wires). Inspect intake boots for cracks and tears. Check all vacuum hoses for leaks. Also check and clean Idle and throttle valves with solvent. Start with the basics.
