BMW Repair: 1998 740i, bmw dealer, excessive fuel

someone has mentioned to me that the rough idling in my car might be a hot engine miss due to the cylinder walls deteriorating, is that possible on a 1998 740 with only 45k on it, he also said the only fix is a new engine, im losing sleep over this!

I have heard of these washing out the cyl walls due to excessive fuel during startup. Check with your local BMW dealer.There is a software update to cut down on fuel on startup.
The only fix for the engine is a new one.   Make yourself a pain at the dealership, get the local rep involved.
