BMW Repair: modifying a E36 rear bumper., sedans coupes, bmw body kits

Question
Hi Paul, my name is Chantale and I have been searching everywhere for some information to help me out with my problem.  I have a 1995 318ti, and I know that since its the hatchback model the rear bumper and tail lights are different than from its following E36 sedans or coupes.

My problem though is that I was in a car accident where the other driver rear ended me, and I tried to make the best of it by ordering some of thought aftermarket BMW body kits, BUT I received one for a sedan/coupe because there are no TI/hatchback rear bumpers available anywhere.  I ordered this bumper because a parts rep. from BMW Winnipeg first said that the TI bumper is the same as the sedan, and thats true but for the front not the rear.

So now I'm stuck with a $500 rear bumper that can not be exchanged or returned, but with the hope from almost every general body shop that it can be modified to fit my TI.

Since you have experience with BMW's do you know the measurements of the sedans/coupes, and TI rear bumper? or do you think it would be a smooth modification?

Any information, links, telephone numbers or experts that you might have that can help me out with this modifying problem would really help.

Thank you so much for all your time and your help
Have a great day
Sincerely
XOXO
Chantale

Answer
Im sorry, but I don't know where to obtain measurements for the 2 bumpers as I have never run into this problem. I would try to get my money back since the company sold you the wrong bumper. If you need to find a good used rear bumper, try locating a salvage yard. There is a place called Baker Imports located outside of Myrtle Beach and they deal with a lot of used BMW. I'll try and locate the number for you.
