BMW Repair: steering wheel shake, dial indicator, steering wheel

Question
I have a 97 540i.  I recently replaced the front pads and rotors.  About a week later, I noticed that when I would brake to slow down, my steering wheel wobbles or shakes.  Do you think it's related to the brakes, or could it be something else?

Thanks

Answer
Well,  if the noise is only present when brakeing than the cause is either the brakes themselves or a component that is being caused by the force of brakeing to be manipulated in a way that results in shakeing; Such as a suspension bushing or component.
Most of the time wobble is caused by rotors that are out of round, if you are using aftermarket products they often wear early because of cheap meterels.  It could also be pads that were installed incorrect resulting in the brakes being constantly applied causeing the rotors to warp within a week.  If you want to check for warpage, get a dial indicator and spin the rotor, I think it allows for something like .01 out of round but you should check the specifications to be sure.
