Alfa Romeo Repair: cannot start - shows injector fault, alfa 145, negative cable

Question
Thanks for the reply,

the car is doing about 211 000km's, and i've just recently done a major service - spark plugs, filters, changed all belts and tentioners including the cam veriator. I cannot open the plugs but can try and do so a bit later. When i spoke to the dealer they said it might be the RPM sensor? whilst the car was on the road there was no drop in power or any flatspots. It's just the light on the dash that stays on. I've removed the battery completly overnight and tried starting it again and still nothing. When i turn the key on, the fuel pump does work cause i can hear it. dont know what else it could be?

Question -
Hi there,

please help!
I have an Alfa 145 2.0l twin spark.
about two months ago i went on holiday to the coast and while driving down there the injector fault light came on. nothing happened until i returned and 2 months later the light stays on permanently and does not start. I have taken off the negative terminal on the battery and left it off for about 2 days and the car started. Drove about 250km's and the problem has started again.
I have no clue on how to fix this. I cannot drive the car and take it to the dealer or garage. What advice can you offer? How do i reset the compter box? and if so will that help?

thanks...

Answer -
I would need to know mileage of vehicle to point you in a direction. However, remove a spark plug and let me know what the insulator looks like. Tell me that and the mileage and I will see what I can suggest.

As for resetting the computer--refer to the last answered question.

Answer
To reset the computer disconnect the negative cable at the battery and touch it to the positive cable for 10 to 20 seconds. This drains the capacitore and the volotile memory is erased.

It could be the rpm sensor. But, at this many miles it is a good idea to check the injectors spray pattern. It should be a fine mist with no solid parts.
