Alfa Romeo Repair: 1974 GTV 2.0L Spica - Tune-Up/Setting Points, msd spark plug wires, orig miles

Question
Of course my Alfa ( 74 GTV 2.OL,Spica, 40K orig miles)  was running perfectly when I decided to fiddle with it and change points. Despite several attempts to set correctly, car still refuses to start. Condenser was not changed, cap and rotor were, plugs changed, wires are probably original ! (Can't find set that matches orig. bright red !)..Car only has about 40K orig. miles. Not sure if I have condenser wire correctly connected to points along with return wire to coil ...if that makes sense...Your help appreciated. Mark

Answer
You must put in a new condenser. Use one for a FIAT if the one specified is not available.

The condenser is attached at the contacts in the same place the coil wire is attached.

Gap the contacts with the rubbing block on the high point of a lobe to 0.016".

The 8.5mm MSD spark plug wires are red and really very good.

Change the plugs to NGK BPR6ES. Gap at 0.025".

You did put in new contacts, didn't you...
