Audio Systems: Speaker Wire Repair, soldering, wires

Question
My dog decided it didn't like the new speakers I just bought and decided to do something about it. The set includes two satellite speakers, one subwoofer, and a control unit (on off/volume knob/bass knob). I'm not sure how standard the setup is so I'll describe it as best I can. The control unit has two lines coming off of it, a 3.5mm jack (which has been chewed off) and another line going to the subwoofer. The two satellite units plug into the subwoofer with the standard red and white connections (not sure what they're called), and one of those has been chewed off. The entire setup is powered through the subwoofer. I only had these speakers about a week and cant afford to go get new ones, what can I do to get these working again? As a side note, a friend of mine tried splicing on plugs to the lines, but the sound quality was horrible and very fuzzy.

Answer
It can likely be repaired but you must be very careful as you re-solder and re-insulate the wires with heat shrink. The result if you do not will be noise. The red and white ones (called RCA jacks) are especially sensitive to problems when re-attaching them. This is because they have a very low 'line level' (un-amplified) signal which is very susceptible to the induction of noise which is very pronounced later on in the amplifier and speakers.
Get someone with experience that knows how to repair this more effectively. :)
