Audio Systems: Marine Stereo, internal circuitry, marine stereo

Question
I installed a marine stereo in my boat and at fairly high volumes it shuts down and then restarts and will continue to do so until I lower the volume.  However if I turn the engine on and turn the stereo up, even above where it shut off previously it will not shut down work fine. Any idea how to fix.  I don't want to have my engine running in order to listen to music at fairly high level.

Answer
My first guess would be that the power drawn at that level is too much for the battery to supply.  The unit is detecting the voltage drop and shutting down to prevent any damage.  As the current draw increases (vol goes up), the voltage will drop.  When it gets to a certain level, the internal circuitry will shut the unit down.  Check the battery that is being used.  Perhaps a larger one will resolve the problem.
