Audio Systems: home CD player, s mp3, car player

Question
I have an older in-home TEAC 5 disc CD player. The last 3 CDs which I have bought will not play on the equipment. The new CDs do play on the car player. My Existing CDs continue to play as as usual. What might be going on here?

Answer
There is a shake up going on in the music industry. There is a lot of vascillation going on about protection of intellecual property. All of this may sound foreign in that why should it have anything to do with your old CD's playing and not the new ones. I'm not giving you an absolute as to why the newer CD's don't play because there could be another hardware issue. What I am saying is that there is experimentation with making CD's compatible to players that play CD's & MP3's and to add DRM which is protection against piracy. The playing field is changing daily. The CD's are actually more sophisticated than a lot of players. Teac may already know about a problem so you could try their tech support.
