Audio Systems: wiring harness needs adapter, premium sound system, bose sound system

Question
ive just bought an aftermarket stereo to put in my 2001 blazer. my blazer has a bose premium sound system. today i tryed to connect my stereo with a wiring harness but i could not even get it to turn on. now i find out that because of the bose sound system i need an adapter for my harness. do you think that this will solve the problem of not even being able to turn my new stereo on?

Answer
If you have the right adapter. See

www.installer.com

and hunt around for the right one.

But, installing a head unit in a car with Bose system is often met with great frustration due to the fact that Bose does not follow the same convention in voltage levels and amplifier outputs that other manufacturers do.

Most owners find out they have to replace the entire system; speakers and all; completely gutting out the old Bose system.

If you are an engineer (I can tell from your question you are not) you can rewire and add booster amps, etc., but it takes custom work to do it.

Wish I had a better solution for you.
