Audio Systems: Computer to stereo hookup, soundblaster awe32, stereo hookup

Question
I want to hook up the audio out from computer to the aux input of my stereo. The stereo is a Sansui with a D-11 Amp. The computer's sound card is a SoundBlaster Awe32 and has two output jacks, one for headphones and another for computer speakers. Both are standard headphone jacks. The aux in on my amp are RCA jacks. Can I buy a standard 2 mil to RCA and hook them right up? Should I use the headphone or speaker jack?

Thanks,
Paul

Answer
Hi Paul,

Ah, for a change a simple answer: yup, you can take the 2mm "mini-plug" output, make sure it's line level if the aux input on the stereo is line level, otherwise go ahead and use the headphone out, which is "hotter" (stronger signal) and just get a converter cable that splits to two RCA white/red plugs.  It'll work just fine.  We've probably got a dozen of those splitters laying around our studio.

If it still doesn't work, please post a followup.  Thanks and good luck!  Cheers, Wink
