Question
QUESTION: I have a 1998 chrysler concord lxi i have a pineer radio put in and a kenwood 1700watt amp KAC-9102D i have 2 15 jbl gto1504d 15 inch subs i can play the music up loud for a few min then the amp turns off it is now warm or anything its set up for 4 ohms it will come back on in like 15 secsbut it keeps doing it on hard bass i also have a 5 frad cap to but i dont think it is doing anything let me know what to do thanks
ANSWER: well this is a class D amp so it may be straining and still wont get hot so that part's normal.
If you're sure they're wired at 4 ohms then that's ok for this amp.  it is possible with these subs to be wired to 1 ohm which would be a problem for this amp. I read allot of reviews on this amp and a few people tried running it at 1 ohm and it did EXACTLY what you're describing. but if you're 100% sure it's wired at 4 ohms then we'll move on.
double check your ground for me. needs to be on paint free metal, bolted down tight.
what gauge wire you using from the front battery to the cap and from the cap to the amp? is your ground the same gauge as your positive?  is the cap grounded well too?
thanks.

QUESTION: it is screwd down and i have 4 gauge wire i have + to + a - to - on the coils it is dule voice when the lights are on a night they go dim when it hits

Answer
ok well the ground needs to be BOLTED down like with a bolt and a nut on the other end and use 2 wrenches, one on the inside and one on the outside to crank it down tight.  just screwing it down with a sheet metal screw isn't good enough.  and all the paint has to be sanded off at the hole where it's bolted down, preferably on both sides of the car.  once bolted down I like to spraypaint a little overtop to keep rust and oxidation out.

now if you have 2 subs. and they are dual coils each, then you have 4 coils total.  meaning you have 4 plus's and 4 minus's.  if all 4 of the pluses are wired together and all 4 of the minuses are wired together then you have a 1 ohm load which is too much for this amp.

check this first, check the ground too. and if that's all correct and good, and your lights are dimming significantly then you just don't have enough juice to run it.  You can add a capacitor to help that out.
