Audio Systems: Jammed CD Player, 2001 ford windstar, ford windstar

Question
My 2001 Ford Windstar factory 6 disc changer will not eject the CD's in slots 1-4 (5 and 6 are empty). How can I get them out? Note - None have paper labels. There was a CD with a paper label in slot 5 but it ejected.

Answer
Some of these units will eject if you disconnect the power.  Some have a manual eject procedure.  Let me search for you.

Nope, could not find any easy removal tricks.  You can try disconnecting power to see if it will reset the mechanisms to enable the eject system to work.  I give it a 25% chance.

Probably, maybe, you will be better off just replacing the changer.  If it must be repaired it will likely cost more than the price of a new changer.

See: http://www.partydown.com/subcat166.htm

and other such places.  New one costs around $200 plus or minus.

Some have decided to go with an iPod attachment and throw the changer out.  You can buy interface connections that allow you to connect an mp3 type player; then carry it with you and you don't have to leave a big changer in the car.... just an idea for you.
