Audio Systems: Connect two MTX 1501D, dry cell battery, mtx 1501d

Question
I have a question, how can i connect two MTX 1501D to make more power? Like for example 2 1500 + 1500 = 3000

Thanks,
Jose

Answer
The short answer is this can't be done in a way that's fool proof.  But it's a great way to ruin two MTX amps.
Plus, unless you already have these amps installed, you're going to need to seriously modify the electrical system in your car - alternator, deep-cycle/dry-cell battery back-up, capacitor banks, etc.

I have to ask: Why would you want to do this?

I think the theory here is a little misguided.  If you have a speaker and amp, and you want to make them louder, you can only go so far by making the amp more powerful.

In the end, where the rubber meets the road, you need to move more air to make things louder.  That's where the speaker comes in.  If you have two 1500W amps, you are going to need an exceptional amount of loudspeakers before more availible power is your concern.

Can you tell me more about your system and what you want to do?

Lastly, I should mention that you WILL have permanent hearing loss operating a car audio system beyond the lowest 5-percent of just one of these amps.  There are some studies that suggest that it is unsafe to even drive a car with what I think you want to do here - low frequencies at high volumes may impair vision and actually have low-grade psychotropic effects.

Unless you're looking to put together a dB competition rig, your money's probably better spent elsewhere.  If you ARE making up a dB comp car, I'm happy to help.
