Audio Systems: surround sound to vcr to tv hookup, tv hookup, home theater system

i would like to know how to install a ge progressive scan home theater system to a magnavox vcr and a sanyo tv. i have hooked it up tons of times and no matter what i do, i cant get proper sounds from all of them, i can get one if i hook up one way and so on but never all of them.   please help

“How to connect everything…” is one of those inquiries that one can quite literally write a small book about or at lease a series of magazine articles. Since this has been done much more comprehensively and eloquently than I can manage, I’m going to direct you to a web site, www.soundandvisionmag.com, which maintains a series of such articles which in turn cover virtually every conceivable connection option. Once you’re at the site, click on “Archives”. At the archives page about half way down you’ll see a series of “Back to Basics” articles. Each article has a "Print Mode" version so you can print it out and have it handy as you make the connections.
