Audio Systems: am car radio noise, antenna base, radio noise

Question
I listen to am radio in my car and it is very noisy(static, poping etc.). When I was a younger man prior to fm radio in cars Radio Shack sold a noise filter that was placed in the distributor cap.Are these devises still available and if so where can they be purchased.

Answer
Just replace the antenna base and complete cable to the radio. You will be much happier with the result. The filters are a band-aid at best, and tend to sap any weak AM signals. AM radio as a  source is prone to interference, so once your antenna is replaced, that's usually as good as it gets. If you are driving a car older than 25 years, there are other things you can try using capacitors on, so let me know.
