Audio Systems: sony CDX-GT200 memory loss, sony cdx gt200, wiring connections

Question
hi, i have just purchased the sony CDX-GT200. After i have set up the wiring etc. i try to programme radio stations into memory. Hoever, once the ignition is off and i detatch the front panel, when i go back to turining the system on, all memory has been reset e.g. the clock is reset, all the previous stations i have programmed in are gone and all settings. I have check the manual for wiring connections and it seems fine. i think that if i don't take the front panel out, memory will still be there however i don't want to do this and would rather keep it out of sight

hope you can help,
ben

Answer
Well I would verify that both the constant positive and the switched positive are wired correctly.  usually a head unit will have 3 main power connections.
A black ground
A (usually yellow) constant positive
A (usually red) switched power line

The wire designated as constant positive must have plus 12 volts at all times even when the key is out, doors closed, lights off, alarm on, etc. ALL the time,  this wire is used in some models to retain memory of user settable functions like clock, stations, EQ, etc.

Use a meter to verify that this is the right wire and is going to the correct spot on the unit.
If that doesn't work then inside the unit there is probably a small battery that retains the settings,  this may be bad and is probably not user serviceable,  return the unit if it's still under warranty.
