Audio Systems: 1987 Chevy blazer stereo wiring, factory wiring harness, chevy blazer

Question
I have an 87 chevy s-10 blazer with a Delco stereo in it & would like to replace it with a new Sony. The wiring from the old isnt compatable with the new obviously. I was wondering if you have a diagram or any kind of help on installing my new one?

Answer

If you have not cut into the factory harness yet, there is no problem interfacing to it with a readily available 'factory wiring harness adaptor' kit from Circuit City. You will be on your way in little time with a few crimp connectors and basic tools.
You may as well pick up the 'installation' kit as well while you are their. This ABS plastic device will let the new radio fit the factory dash opening, quite well. Both kits are about $10.00 USD  each.

If you have cut them, you are in need of an in-person, local professional, now. :/

By saying 'obviously', I presume you may have cut the factory wires, or you are not knowledged in these matters and are assuming what may seem obvious to you (since you also mentioned that the delco is [basically] 'in the blazer').

So I hope you asked this before removing the Delco! :)

Good luck, use caution with 12volts, and have fun.

Sincerely,
Jerry Mael
