Audio Systems: TV Extremely strange, wall receptacle, high velocity

Question
My 27 inch Samsung TV (about 12-15 years old) has always worked fine, until two days ago.  I heard a VERY loud noise while in home office, thought it was a broken water line (when washing machine lines go out they began discharging water at a high velocity, this was the SAME sound!).  Much to my surprise, it was the TV; 3 rooms away.  The sound deteriorated to lower velocity, (screen was black by the time I got into the room) and I pulled the plug.

Garbage?  Plug it in again like my 16 year old says?
THANKS!

Answer
Dear L:

Plug it back in. You can't hurt the wall receptacle (at most you'd trip a circuit breaker), and you probably can't damage the TV any more that it's already damaged.

If the same thing happens, *then* it's garbage.

Kindest regards,

Kevin
