Audio Systems: CD question, scratch patch, musical passages

Question
Hello,I am not sure if you remember me but you helped me with several questions.I have the Dynako Stereo 70 and Sony speakers.Anyway I have had email problems and had trouble contacting people.Last I talked about how the Dynako broke up and sounding a bit distorted during complex.loud musical passages.Remembe? Turns out the bias was way off.I got a multimeter to check it Should be 1.56v set it read around 1.77! And you check it after the amp warms up about 5 minutes and again after aboit a half hour,Sounds much better and cleaner now, though I am sure after 10 years of owning the amp (4 years in storage) the tubes will need replacing in the near future. Also do you know of any effective products or methods of removing minor scratches from Cds.I have 2 discs that skip about 10 seconds on a certain track.Cleaning it didn't help.

Answer
Dear Peter,

Good to hear you're making progress with the Dynaco.

I'm not sure what's going on here, but I've sent you a response to the scratching issue twice on 2/28 and 3/6. Here it is again:

Any commercial scratch remover should do the job. Try any Best Buy or Circuit City. Hi-fi stores also carry product. Keep in mind, however, that even a scratch patch can't restore lost data, which could happen if the scratch penetrated the aluminum substrate on the disc and compromised the digital encoding.

Kindest regards,

Kevin
