Audio Systems: alpine stereo in 1999 volvo V70 XC, volvo v70 xc, 1999 volvo v70

Question
Hi Tom,

I don't know who else to turn to for the solution to my problem.  I have a 1999 Volvo V70(XC).  Recently I had my stock stereo replaced with a new Alpine head unit.  I noticed that there were TWO antenna input connections on my stock stereo (one antenna jack slightly thinner than the other).  The backside of my Alpine only had room for ONE antenna cable.  The Tech that installed the radio said that it was not necessary to install both car antenna cables into the new radio and that simply plugging in the standard one was sufficient.  I found out the next day that my AM reception was very poor (JIM ROME **JUNGLE).  Could this be related to that EXTRA antenna cable which is now dangling behind my radio? If so, how do I mate the two antennas together into one that will fit my Alpine.

I have scoured the web looking for an antenna adapter for my car but there are none.  I found a few adapters for other volvo but when I looked at the pictures they had square plugs on one side.

Can you please help?

Answer
Jack,
If you can hold out until tuesday evening I may have one of the adapter connectors that you need. If not, I can locate the adapter. I won't be back to my shop until Tuesday and I will look for the adapter and let you know.
