Audi Repair: Engine light, torque converter, audi a6

Question
Hi, I have a 1999 Audi A6 quattro.  THe engine was on and I brought it to a mechanic.  FIrst, he said it was a bad spark plug misfiring.  He said at 60,000 you need to change them.  Now he said it went off when he reset it.  We got gas the other day and it is back on and he said it could be the torque converter.  How much is that to replace and what would cause that.  The car only has 67,000 on it.  Thanks

Answer
I am assuming in your question you mean the check engine light was on.  Spark plugs can be changed at 60k, but more likely a coil pack is malfunctioning.  I have no idea how he came up with a torque converter problem... I would take the car to a local autozone or parts store, they can read out the codes.  Let me know what the codes are, and then we can do a better diagnosis.  Let me know,  Jan
