Audi Repair: 2000 Audi A6 Quattro Wagon Electrical Issues, audi a6 quattro, power doors

Question
QUESTION: Jan, I recently had my sunroof left open during a rain storm.  I vacuumed and soaked up as much water as I could.  Everything worked fine the firs day except the hazard lights.  Two days later the hazard lights were fine, but the power windows, door locks and sunroof did not work.  My remote lock/keyless entry also is not working.  What do you think is the most likely culprit causing these malfunctions?

ANSWER: It really depends where all the water went.  The remote lock module is located under one of the front seats, under the carpet.  This may have gotten wet and blown a fuse for that circuit.  Check all the fuses first, but before replacing them make sure the car is dried out properly.  Let me know,  Jan

QUESTION: Jan, the car is completely dried and I checked all fuses this past weekend and all were fine.  Before the water incident, I had times when I pulled the key from the ignition it would still beep like the key wasn't removed.  Now I have had times where I would walk out to my car and the radio would be playing and one time when I turned the ignition off and removed the key, the car kept running.  Now, the air bag light is on and won't turn off.  The interior lights, sunroof, power windows, and power doors still do not work.  I feel like the car is possessed.  Where should I look next?  The nearest Audi dealer is 3  hours away and I am not aware of any authorized/knowledgeable Audi repair shops any closer.  Let me know if all hope is lost and only a dealer can help or is there anything else that I can check?

Answer
I think your load reduction relay has failed.  this stops the accessories from working during starting, but is supposed to re-enable them when the car starts.  Sounds like that isn't happening.  I also think your ignition switch may be bad.  Do you have a manual?  I would start with that...  Let me know,  Jan
