Audi Repair: 2003 audi a4 1.8 t, mobile 1 synthetic oil, o2 sensors

Question
I was at a stop light when I check engine light started to blink, I drove it to a
near by parking lot as I drove it the car started to shake a little almost as it
was pot potting I stop open the hood and the down pipe where one of my o2
sensors is hook was glowing bright neon orange. I the temp gage was
reading normal, I use mobile 1 synthetic oil, and I run the highest premium
gas. Why is it doing that? Can you please help me, its still under warranty but
I just want to have an idea before I talk to them. Thank you

Answer
The exhaust can get that hot, especially if you have been running the car fairly hard.  I would get the diagnostic codes read out to find out why the check engine light is on, but the exhaust getting red-hot is quite possible.  Let me know what the codes are,  Jan
