Audi Repair: Audi A6 Quatro, audi a6, audi dealership

Question
I have a 1999 A6 Quatro.  My mechanic replaced the timing belt and reset it wrong, resulting in bent valves.  He is in the process of repairing, had it for 3 weeks.  When I had the battery replaced the dealership had to do it so that they could reset the computer.  Can my mechanic do that, or will someone at the Audi dealership have to do it.  Thanks for your help.

Answer
I hope he gets it right this time!  The computer really does not need to be 'reset' when you change the battery; it is only the radio that might need to have the code entered.  No dealer action is necessary if you have the radio code and you can enter it.  Let me know how this works out,  Jan
