Cadillac Repair: cadillac 1997 sts vehicle theft problem car may not restart error randomly., cadillac sts, cadillac dealer

Question
QUESTION: My car is a 1997 Cadillac sts and lately we have been having problems with the vtd (ignition immobilizer) module is there any way to remove or replace it?

ANSWER: The first thing we need to do is to get the terminology correct as there is no such item as an ignition immobilizer.

Tell me what the problem is with the vehicle. Won't start or what ?

IS or HAS the CHECK ENGINE light or any other light or message display appeared while driving the vehicle ?.

QUESTION: The security system randomly kicks in and gives me the vehicle anti theft problem car may not restart and the engine will not completely turn over or start. we took the vehicle in and they bypassed the security system with resistors yet it still randomly wont start (and when I talked to the local Cadillac dealer thats what he called it.)

Answer
They really butchered your Universal Theft system (UTD) and your Personal Automotive Security System (PASS-KEY).

The THEFT SYSTEM PROBLEM CAR MAY NOT RESTART message is caused by a fault in the PASS-KEY system NOT in the UTD system.

Since I have no way of telling what they bypassed there is no way for me to tell you how to fix the system.

Do you know EXACTLY where they put resistors ?.

This was a simple problem initially but now it is all screwed up.
