My 1990 Seville is getting about 10 MPG.  What can I look for and correct prior to taking into the shop to improve gas mileage?

IS or HAS the CHECK ENGINE light ever illuminated on the dash panel ?. If it has or IS illuminated check for fault codes via the climate control panel.

Is your emergency brake OFF.?

check the color of your transmission fluid and if it is brown in color and has a burnt smell to it, You have transmission problems.
