Cadillac Repair: 1991 Fleetwood FWD, fuel pump filter, octane gas

Question
My dad's 1991 Fleetwood stalls when you press the gas pedal somewhat hard to accelerate quickly. If you ease off the gas abit the engine sputters and coughs. The engine does not stall when you press on the gas very slowly.
Any help would be appreciated.

p.s. How do you clear existing codes?

Answer
What kind of gas are you running, dont try to cheat the system cadillacs need 93 octane to operate at their zenith, 91 minimum, 89 is not reccomended and 87 is like giving arsenic to a human in comparison. It really does destroy these old motors.
This is the same problem im having in my 90 deville, i have done everything except replace the fuel injectors and vacuum lines, which is the only thing left to do after the fuel pump, filter, air filter, distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs and wires, and ignition coil, and cooling system components.
All of these are great possibilties but what i would reccomend first is running lucas injector cleaner after replacing the fuel filter, FILL IT UP WITH 93 OCTANE GAS, after this if its still stalling you may want to replace the distributor cap rotor and hei coil along with the plugs and wires, if you do the plugs for the 2,4,6 cylinders you must go under the car and remove the spark plugs, dont strip them. And make sure the firing order is correct when you reconnect them.
