tom, 1992 fleetwood cadillac, i've had this car to the dealer & just about every place you can think of & i have the only caddy ever made with this problem. when you step on the gas it will hesitate like its running out of gas . it loses power & after it gets down to about 35mph it'll kick in & go. when you get up to 60mph it starts all over again . it'll chug-chug for awhile be fine & start again. i was told the cadalitic converter was the cause, replaced it , thats not it . needless to say i've spent 1600$ & no good. could you give me an idea , please.

Answer -
Every diagnosis is based upon the FEEL of the vehicle when the technician drives the vehicle.

However, the first thing I would do is to put a fuel pressure tester on the fuel line and tape it to the outside of the windshield where you can watch it and drive the vehicle and watch the fuel pressure.

Is or has the check engine light ever illuminated on the dash panel while you were driving the vehicle ?.

Answer
OK. Follow this procedure.

1. Ignition ON. Engine OFF.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons for 3 seconds and release them.

3. Diagnostic Codes in the form of LETTERS and NUMBERS will appear and then the display will stop and display .7.0

4. I need to know EXACTLY what letters and numbers display in the exact order in which they dispaly even if they display 2 times.

5. Turn OFF the ignition.

If you can't write them down quick enough just repeat steps 1 thru 5.

EXAMPLE: ..E34 then ..E45 then .E.E34 then .E.E45

Example: ..F56 then ..F67 then .F.F56 then .F.F56

If you have a video camera you can capture the display as it reads out the codes and e-mail it to me at: onlineautohelp@msn.com
