Cadillac Repair: Eldorado Coolant, coolant leaks, block drain

Question
I want to replace the coolant in my '95 Eldorado Northstar, but the radiator doesn't seem to have a drain.  How do you drain and flush this system?

Answer
Hi Dwight, If you look on the drivers side of the radiator at the bottom of the plastic tank you will see a drain. The only problem is that opening the drain won't allow all the coolant to drain from the engine and you will need to open the block drain bolts to drain the engine. You will need to do this after the flush otherwise you won't be able to get enough anti-freeze into the engine to get it to a 50% mix or -34. The easiest thing to do is take your Eldo to a place with a flush machine and then there should be no problem getting the mix right or frushing all the old stuff out completely. If you do go ahead and flush it yourself don't forget to stop off at the Caddy dealer for some sealtabs...3 are required to put into the radiator after flushing to make sure there are no coolant leaks. Hope that helps. Bill
