Cadillac Repair: 85 coupe deville, rocker studs, head bolts

Question
bill- well the map sensor didnt do the trick, i pulled off the fron valve cover and found that the #1 cylinder, rocker studs pulled the threads and broke that little bridge piece that the rocker studs go through. i am going to get the piece from the bone yard, but i am going to also have to put in a heli-coil or swap out the whole assembly so the studs stay in. this has happened before to this car, i found a numbered piece of alluminum under the valve cover from one of those little bridge pieces, and its not from the one i took off. i am also going to pull the other cover to be safe. ill let you know what happens. tim

Answer
Tim, Before you bolt up the individule rocker stand take the time to remove the 10mm head bolts and then the 5 15mm nuts and take the whole rocker arm assembly off the engine before removing and installing the rocker arms. The threads are self tapping and will strip out if you try to remove /install the rocker arm bolts with the assembly on the engine. Glad to hear you are getting closer to solving your run problem.
