Chevrolet Repair: 97 monte carlo 3.1 v6, loran, lifters

Question
broke cam how difficult to fix have done top ends before but not on this new of a car. difficulty & what to check for

Answer
Hey Loran,

If the cam is broken on it it may be more cost effective to install a  used engine.  The engine needs to come out anyways to do it because the camshaft comes out the passengers side.  The 3.1l engine is plentiful and they are relatively bulletproof.  By the time you buy a new cam, lifters and intake set you could pay to have a used motor with low kilometers.
Mitchel time is 14.4 hours and that includes engine RR.  Its not something you want to do without the full facilities of a repair shop.
