Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): weed wacker teardown, craftsman weed wacker, gear puller

Question
I have craftsman weed wacker model 358.791.580 that the pull start won't retract. I'm trying to pull it apart to check the reciol spring. I can't get part 49 from the parts list off. Can I just pry it off? I do have a gear puller but don't see where to connect it to pull that part off.

Answer
Part 49 is the clutch drum. It is held to the crankshaft with a Torx head screw in the hole in the center.
To remove the screw you must hold the crank securely.
To do this turn the engine with your Torx driver until the piston is at the bottom. Feed about 1 foot of 3/8" rope in the spark plug hole this will hold the piston for you.
