Chevrolet Repair: flywheel, chevy blazer, flex plate

Question
need tips on replacing a flywheel on a 95 chevy blazer Ls 4x4. best way to get to top tranny bolts.and do the tranny have to be completely remove, or just slide back enough to get to flywheel bolts.

Answer
Hello Jay,
The word flywheel kinda indicates standard transmission. With an automatic transmission, it is actually called a flex plate.
But many people use the word flywheel for both, and since you didn't mention which, I will cover both.
With the standard tranny, it pretty much needs completely removed, cause the clutch needs to be removed and replaced, and ligned back up.

With the auto, you could just move it back far enough to get to the bolts. Be sure to unbolt the torque converter from the flex plate, and allow it to go back with the tranny.

Best way to get to the top bolts is with a couple real long extensions, and a wobble joint socket.
