Chevrolet Repair: trans problem, chev, solenoid


Question
OK i have a 1983 chev.cavalier with a 2.0 eng.with a TBI
the problem is that when i drive for a certain amount of time it will tremble or it will make a whining noise only if the car is really hot and then some time it will want to cut off and after it die out i turn it back on its fine but shift it to drive or reverse it make a loud lock noise

Sounds to me that your tranny is getting too hot. The best thing to do is a tranny flush on it. That will allow you to clean your entire system including your trans cooler. Usually when your tranny gets to hot your detent solenoid will not perform properly and leave your tranny in a higher gear stalling out the engine.
