Chevrolet Repair: matching body parts, gmc sonoma, pro hardware

Question
I have a 1990 S15 GMC Sonoma with front end damage. I would like to know if I can replace front bumper, hood and fender from a 87 or 88 Chev Blazer or any other close matches ?
 Thank you

Answer
Hi Wally,

Yes, you can interchange these body panels.  As a matter of fact, this is what insurance companies are doing nowadays.  It wasn't until mid-1994 that the body style changed on that truck.  Even then, it may be possible, but naturally the body lines won't match.

You can use a Blazer or Pick-Up from mid-'80's up to 1994.  Some things may be different, like the grill.  Styles changed but the panels will line up.

You could possibly buy all these panels from Sherman body panels for a few hundred bucks.  These trucks are rediculously cheap to repair.  Fenders new maybe $20, Hood maybe $80.  Check it out.  Look around on-line.  In north Ohio, Fred's Pro Hardware is the body panel connection.  If you live near there, call him.  If not, call him anyway.  He may ship.  Get his number from the classified section of www.thenewsherald.com.

Hope this helps.
