Chevrolet Repair: 1984 corvette rear hatch wonnt open, rear hatch, key hole

Question
The lock on the rear hatch won't releast the hatch. I hear a click when I press the button the inside manual release won't open it either. How can I get it open to repair the latch.

Hi Stephen O'malley,

You will have to climb into the rear, from the front.  Pull off the panel on the drivers side of the car.  You should see a cable with a handle on it.  Pull it and the hatch will release.  If it is not on that side, it is on the passenger side.  

Do you not have a key hole anywhere for the hatch?
