Chevrolet Repair: S10 wount Start, intermittent problem, dash lights

My 86 Chevy S10, 4 speed manual, will not start. Will not crank either, no sounds (clicks, cluncks, etc...) when trying to turn truck on. Ignition seems to be working fine as all dash lights, the radio, etc... comes on when key is turned. This is an intermittent problem as it works fine most of the time.
Please help...

Hi George,

Could be several things.  First comes to mind is connections.  Check all the connections at the starter for corrosion, or to see if they are loose.  

Next thing I think of is, the safety switch that corresponds with the clutch.  Could be failing.
