Chevrolet Repair: Heating Problem in Venture WB 2002, intake manifold gasket, road warranty

Question
I just purchased my Chevy Venture three months ago.  It was used so I purchased a middle of the road warranty.   Now it has gotten cold and the heater has quit blowing hot air.  The heater was only blowing heat when I was actually driving but when I stopped at a red light or put the car in park the heat started blowing very cold air.  There are no leaks that I have found.  What should I be checking for?  Thank you!  Christy

Answer
Hi Christy, The first thing is to check the radiator to make sure there is coolant in there. These engines are known to leak coolant from the intake manifold gasket. They have a NEW design gasket for these now. If the coolant level is good then I would say the thermostat is bad and you need a new one.

Hope this helps you
