Chevrolet Repair: Changed Tranny,Speedometer Dont Work, mechanical speedometer, speedometer shop

Question
I am sorry I did not tell you the description of my vehicle. The vehicle I am talking about is an 1988 Chevy s10 with a 2.8L and a daully conversion kit. I bought the truck with a blown 4 cylinder and the gentleman had a 6 cylinder just sitting there and sold it as part of the deal. Thats the motor I am running now. Thank you for answering me so quickly. Carlos Gonzalez........

Hy, I changed my transmission and did not realize upon purchase that I had bought a tranny with a electrical speedometer cable and not a mechanical like the last setup was on my truck. Now after setting it up I have no speedometer for the last 2 months. I am sure there has to be a conversion kit out there. Maybe you guys can help me with this little problem of mines. How can I get my speedometer to work. Thank you, Carlman28  (team_for_sure@yahoo.com.

Let me take a WILD guess and say we are working with a 1938 Packard with a digital display speedometer.

Answer
Do you have a mechanical speedometer or a digital ?.

Do you have a cable or a wire going to the transmission speedometer area ?.

Look in the speedometer hole and tell me if there is a PLASTIC gear in there with numerous small teeth or is it a metal ring with 4 or 5 humps on it ?.

You might have to remove the rear extension housing on the transmission in order to see what gear is on it and e-mail me a picture of it.

Your BEST BET is to take it to a speedometer shop where the police get their speedometers calibrated and they can rig you up something.

Does the vehicle run with the V-6 in it ?.
