Chevrolet Repair: brakes on 1978 Chevy Scottsdale 4X, turn signal switch, light assemblies

The brake lights on my 1978 Chevy Scottsdale 1/2 ton 4X pick up keep shorting out. I have changed the senser on the pedal, traced all the wires, changed fuses,and bulbs. They work for 1 maybe 2 days and out again. Any ideas that can help?

Hi Julie,
The one thing you didn't mention was the turn signals.
The brake lights power goes through the turn signal switch. A short in there will blow the fuse.

See if the problem is affected by the use of the signals.

If the fuse isn't blowing, I would suspect the ground of the light assemblies.
